“Obedience will always be the easiest option, Izzy – that doesn’t make it right!” – Antigone – Written by Hollie McNish – Directed by Owen Harper

Synopses: Antigone finds her world turned upside down with her mother, father and brothers now dead. When the tyrannical King of Thebes Kreon, Antigone’s uncle, violates the laws of the gods and refuses to give Antigone’s brother a respectful burial, she decides to take matters into her own hands. What is worse, betraying your King, or betraying your heart?

In this vibrant and modern adaption of Sophocles’ tragedy, bestselling poet & writer Hollie McNish skilfully highlights the similarity between modern society and the ancient Greek world. See and hear this Greek tragedy as you never have before with an exciting combination of live performance, set and lighting design that will transport you to another time.

Made in collaboration between the Worcester Rep, Young Rep and the brand new People’s Rep, Worcester Theatres is excited to bring the classic tale of Antigone to life. Widely considered one of the greatest Ancient Greek tragedies, Antigone is as thought provoking, heart-breaking and relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.
