Actors biography:

Dr Shama Rahman was the lead actor of South Asia’s first supernatural sci-fi detective thriller, Bishaash.

A 24-part drama, produced and aired by the BBC to over 50 million viewers world-wide, her character Zara is the childhood icon of many as a British-Bangladeshi bridging two worlds (both East and West, and into the supernatural!). She’s equally at home on screen, as she is on stage and has been the lead in musicals, traditional end-on theatre, is an actor/musician, and has directed/dramaturgh/produced and acted in many immersive shows.

Continuing to inhabit a multi-dimensional space, she is a VO artist traversing animation, docu-dramas, books, and podcasts and was a BBC Norman Beaton Fellowship finalist.

As a musician she is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer. She was the first Sitarist Explorer to perform in Antarctica on the first ever Antarctic Biennale, she’s been on tour on 4 other continents, is equally at home performing in jazz festivals as at Glastonbury, featured on BBC, Wonderland, Songlines, Google Arts and Culture, and the British Music Collection.
Dr Rahman is an AI scientist and neuroscientist with an expertise in AI/human creative systems. She holds a PhD in the neuroscience and complex systems of Creative Cognition and Innovation. She is the co-author of several books spanning multidisciplinary creativity, design engineering, neurodesign and innovation.

Shama is the Artistic Director of the Art/Science performance company Jugular Productions, producing immersive theatre and hybrid experiences, installations, performances, salons, and games.

Bringing together this extensive knowledge and work Shama founded NeuroCreate – using AI and Neuroscience in a symbiotic digital design to enhance human creativity, performance and wellbeing.

Shama has won Creative Visionary of the year AthenaX Awards, named as one of the Top 20 most inspirational women in Tech by TechRound and shortlisted as AI Innovator (AI Summit) and Entrepreneur of the year (Olympic Legacy).
She is an expert speaker and presenter for keynote talks, documentaries and TV episodes.
